Sharing with Secure Send

Secure Send turns a document into a one-shot encrypted link: the file is sealed on your device, the recipient opens it once in their browser, and then it is gone. Free tier includes 3 sends per month; Premium is unlimited.

Send

  1. Open the document and choose Share / Secure Send.
  2. Pick an expiry (1 hour to 7 days) and, optionally, a PIN.
  3. Keepsake encrypts the file locally, uploads only ciphertext, and gives you a link.
  4. Send the link however you like. If you set a PIN, send it over a different channel (link by email, PIN by text).

What the recipient sees

A plain web page that decrypts the file in their browser — no app, no account. With a PIN, they get five attempts; the fifth failure destroys the file.

The rules

  • One download, or the expiry time — whichever comes first. Then the ciphertext is deleted.
  • Maximum size 10 MB.
  • The decryption key travels in the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to servers. Our relay stores bytes it cannot read.

Good practice

  • Use a PIN whenever the link travels through email or chat that others might access later.
  • The link is the key. Treat it like the document itself until it is opened.
  • Need the file back? There is no copy anywhere — send a fresh link.
