Introducing Keepsake

A document vault that encrypts on your devices, syncs through your own cloud, and keeps working even if we disappear. The web app is open today.

Every family runs on documents — passports, insurance policies, contracts, the kids' vaccination records — and almost every family stores them badly: camera rolls, email attachments, a drawer, "somewhere in Drive". The apps that promise to fix this all make the same demand: hand your most sensitive papers to our servers and pay us monthly, forever, or lose access.

We built Keepsake because that trade is unnecessary.

What Keepsake is

A secure document vault for Windows, Android and the web with a simple architecture: your documents are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your device, under keys derived only from your password. If you enable sync, the encrypted vault replicates through a private folder in a cloud you already own — Google Drive, OneDrive, any WebDAV server, even a NAS or USB stick. We run no document servers. There is nothing for us to read, leak, or hold hostage.

On top of that foundation sits the intelligence that makes a vault actually usable:

  • On-device OCR reads every scan and photo locally, then files it — category, expiry date, document number, tags — with nothing uploaded.
  • Expiry alerts fire before passports, visas or insurance lapse, with renewal checklists and official links for your country.
  • Travel Mode packs the trip's documents into an offline, PIN-locked capsule that self-destructs when you're home.
  • Secure Send shares a document as a one-shot encrypted link — burn-after-read, optional PIN, and the key never touches our relay.
  • A printable Recovery Kit — 24 words — answers "what if I forget my password?" without a reset server.

Available today

The web app is open now: create a vault in your browser in under a minute, no account, free for 25 documents. It installs to your home screen and works offline — iPhone included.

The Windows and Android apps are in final testing. Leave your email and you'll hear the moment they ship — nothing else, ever.

The promise we can actually keep

Most privacy promises are policies. Ours is architecture: the security model documents exactly what we can and cannot see, the vault format is published byte-for-byte, and licenses verify offline. The vault works even if we disappear. That's not a slogan; it's a design constraint we test against.
